About Us
Podere Paugnano has been a working farm or 'azienda agricola' since the late 1970s, run by Sardinian Giovanni and Giovanna and their two daughters Tamara and Natalie.
The farm has always specialized in the production of cheese and dairy products made with sheep's milk, initially just for family consumption and friends but they started a wider distribution to the public in 2004.
In 2000 they also decided to open their doors to host guests at the farm and started to operate as an agriturismo offering basic but fully furnished apartments to those who wanted to experience their way of life and immerse themselves in calm, picturesque surroundings in the very heart of nature.
The relaxing pool is surrounded by roses and the large oak trees provide shade. Herbs such as lavender and sage grow all around the property and infuse the air with their unmistakable aromas. They are often also used in the kitchen depending on the season.
Eating here is to be invited into the family kitchen, where Sardinian tradition meets Tuscan cuisine. Dishes are lovingly created by Giovanna from scratch using both the produce that Giovanni has collected and produce from other similar organic farms nearby (honey and grains for example).
The farm is completely organic and the philosophy is very simple; an immense respect for nature and a belief in being self-sufficient from the land beneath our feet. The setting couldn't be more perfect for a break away from a busy life. The views from the summer dining terrace, and from the apartments, stretch across the patchwork valley to the nearby hilltop village of Radicondoli, and the sense of peace is idyllic.
